Happy Birthday to MaMa! ~

Bday prezzie from my beloved cousins. Guess what's inside?

We will have 鲍鱼 for this year's 团圆饭!

Such nice packaging for four cans!

YAY! It is mama's birthday today! We celebrated the event last saturday in 红星酒家. For those in my generation, you would know this to be one of the most famous dim sum restaurant! I love this place because they still have push carts of delicious hot piping dim sum! Price is reasonable and food still tastes fairly good ( i feel it was better in the past)!

The bible says "Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the Lord your God is giving you". To me, it all boils down to obedience. We obey our earthly parents because we obey our heavenly Father! It is definitely not easy, when what our parents want us to do goes in a different direction from our own thoughts and wishes!

I have learnt to love and obey my mama more and more through the years. My greatest prayer right now is that she knows the Lord and spends her life in heavenly joy. May the Lord grant her good health for many many more years!

Breastfeeding in the Bible

As a new breastfeeding mom, i am eager to read up on anything and everything related to the subject. I was also curious to find out what the bible says about breastfeeding.

Actually, many parts of the bible talks about children nursing at the woman's breast. Perfectly in line with the understanding that breast milk is the best gift from God for our children!

For one, Moses was nursed by her mom. Remember Miriam suggested to the pharaoh's daughter to get a Hebrew woman to nurse the child? God has such a wonderful plan for Moses to be nursed by his biological mother, and to be taught the ways of Jehovah from young. That paved the way for His great salvation plan later on in the Exodus!

Another example is baby Samuel, as recorded in 1 Samuel 1:21-23.

When the man Elkanah went up with all his family to offer the annual sacrifice to the LORD and to fulfill his vow, Hannah did not go. She said to her husband, "After the boy is weaned, I will take him and present him before the LORD, and he will live there always."

"Do what seems best to you," Elkanah her husband told her. "Stay here until you have weaned him; only may the LORD make good his word." So the woman stayed at home and nursed her son until she had weaned him.

Mothers! Persevere in your noble task of breastfeeding! You may need to wake up in the wee hours of the night and suffer some panda circles, but seeing your child grow strong and healthy is definitely worth it! :)

Concise Theology

Every first saturday of the month, we gather for a Tyrannus Bible Training. The word "Tyrannus" is found in Acts 19:9-10 "He [Paul] took the disciples with him and had discussions daily in the lecture hall of Tyrannus. This went on for two years, so that all the Jews and Greeks who lived in the province of Asia heard the word of the Lord." It is synonymous with a place where believers gathered to learn about the Word of God.

We are using the book "Concise Theology" written by J.I. Packer, the author who wrote "Knowing God". Packer gave an excellent overview as well as adequate depth in theology over 94 short excerpts in 4 sections:

a. God Revealed as Creator
b. God Revealed as Redeemer
c. God Revealed as Lord of Grace
d. God Revealed as Lord of Destiny

We are halfway through the study, and I wouldn't say i fully understood everything shared in the book, but it is truly an excellent resource for learning about theology on a "deeper than surface yet shallower than the deep" kind of level; thus the title of the book "Concise Theology".

A new word i learnt in class was "Paraclete", which means the Holy Spirit, the Counselor, which came from the Greek word "parakletos" meaning one who gives support. Does anyone know how to pronounce the word "Paraclete" correctly?
