Look Like Boy?

This expression is an exact replica of daddy .. i.e. the frown

Woahaha ... those aunties are all wrong!

I brought baby out to the market one day and met three aunties along the way.

"Oh so cute! Boy right?"
"Hm, sorry auntie, she's a girl."

Ok, it's my fault that i dressed her in yellow. I will ensure to embalm her in pink from head to toe the next time we go out ^_^

Dolly Princess

Mama, what did you put on my head??

I'm the mermaid princess!

It's the festive season and perfect occasion to doll up our princess! Thanks to our niece for getting charis this flowery hairband. We strapped it on and we can't stop clicking away the camera! Baby looks so hilarious in this setup!

Happy CNY!!

Lo Hei at our place! Cheers! ~~

It's Chinese New Year again! I've so thankful that charis came in Nov so by now my confinement is over and i can feast to my heart's content!

We had steamboat at our place this year and as usual with my family and my uncle. It's really a great joy to spend time with the family and i thank God for each of them! We just placed baby in the cot beside the dining while we ate drank and make merry. She wailed after a while as if feeling left out!

Looking forward to next CNY when charis would be one and she would then be joining us in the reunion dinner! YAY! ~~~

My New Look

Yoohoo! New year new look! After delivering my baby, my hair was in a big mess. My neighbour was so kind to babysit Charis for a couple of hours for me to run out for a quick trim.

Ta-Da!! Short bob with full fringe! Definitely a new style for me and pple say it trimmed off 10 years from my age! Who cares if it's true but i choose to believe it! Woahaha ....

CNY Cookies!

Pineapple tarts ... there's a special mold for the crust

Short cut method, just roll the "tarts" into a ball (pineapple filling inside)

Wowo! We were at Cass' place yesterday and she taught us how to make CNY cookies! There were two styles of pineapple tarts and also peanut cookies! The recipe is so easy and Cass made everything look so simple! i'm inspired to try them on my own soon!

They taste as good as they look! Hubby loves them and i'm excited to share them with my friends! They'll be proud of me and raise my domestic index! Woahaha ~~~

O型嘴

Baby has a standard "O shape mouth" ... guess what? It tells us she is doing her big business! Haha ... Usually when that happens, she will keep quite still, give us the O shape mouth, and then we'll know to change her in a while.

That's how babies communicate. Funny ah?!

Latest Hobby

See i can blow bubbles!

口水多过茶!

I remember when Charis was born and doctor put her on my tummy, the first thing i noticed was that she was blowing bubbles with her saliva! I was quite shocked to know that newborns can do this trick!

Now Charis is back at it after two months. She would save up a lot of saliva and then foam them around her mouth! It must be fun for her .. probably her only form of entertainment for now haha. It's fun watching her amusing herself!

The Art of Burping

Burping the baby is the best toning exercise for the arms!

I feel miserable ... help let me go!!

I love nursing time because baby would look so peaceful and happy. However, what follows is always quite a dread.

Sometimes baby would burp almost immediately, but sometimes my arms would be aching so much and yet not a drop of air was heard. I always wondered if i'm doing it correctly. Some friends have taught me to rock her from side to side. This technique has worked pretty well most times, but baby hates it and always struggles to get free.

It kinda pains me to see her pitiful face as if saying "mama can you stop please". But i've read that it is very important to burp the little one. Any air trapped in their bodies might cause wind in the stomach making the baby uncomfortable or colicky. I'm just thinking if unburped gas can be passed from below, hee.

If any of you have any superb tips on burping, let me know!! :)

Downtown Girl

Sob, no CNY clothes for me! Waaaaah ~~~

For the first time, we brought baby to Orchard Road! We just pushed her along in the infant car seat travel system and i think she is very awed by the many colors and sights!

It wasn't a bad experience at all bringing her shopping. Most of the time baby would be sleeping, or looking around. When she cries just feed her. That simple :) Oooh i love Takashimaya. They have a well equipped nursery on L3 where you can change diapers or nurse. So baby friendly! Love it! It earned my loyalty even though the parking charges are horrendous ^_^

Wanted to get baby some pretty dresses for CNY but couldn't find any that could fit her teeny frame nicely. Most dresses and pretty separates are for at least 3 months and up. i will continue my quest this week in other malls. Eeeek time is running out!

Cradle Cap

Sob, look at my cradle capped brows

Ta-Da! Don't i look so good now when the flakes are gone?

Does your baby have cradle cap?

Cradle cap is charaterized by thick, yellow, greasy scales which are caused by overactive oil glands. They are usually found on the scalp, but can also grow on the eyebrows or eyelids. No particular treatment is required as cradle cap is harmless.

Baby Charis had a mild case of cradle cap on both her brows. I just left them alone until I received advice to apply some baby oil on them and then gently rub the flakes off. I had not dared to do that previously because i was afraid i would hurt baby by rubbing her skin, but i received ful assurance this is ok so i went on ahead to try.

I dabbed some baby oil using a cotton ball onto both brows, and voila! ~ The flakes did come out quite easily! I continued to do this for two days. The skin appeared red for a while but now the flakes are gone and the princess looks better!

If you have the same situation, try this simple and effective treatment! :)

Happy Birthday to MaMa! ~

Bday prezzie from my beloved cousins. Guess what's inside?

We will have 鲍鱼 for this year's 团圆饭!

Such nice packaging for four cans!

YAY! It is mama's birthday today! We celebrated the event last saturday in 红星酒家. For those in my generation, you would know this to be one of the most famous dim sum restaurant! I love this place because they still have push carts of delicious hot piping dim sum! Price is reasonable and food still tastes fairly good ( i feel it was better in the past)!

The bible says "Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the Lord your God is giving you". To me, it all boils down to obedience. We obey our earthly parents because we obey our heavenly Father! It is definitely not easy, when what our parents want us to do goes in a different direction from our own thoughts and wishes!

I have learnt to love and obey my mama more and more through the years. My greatest prayer right now is that she knows the Lord and spends her life in heavenly joy. May the Lord grant her good health for many many more years!

Social Smile

Ung-Gur Gur baby!

Hehe you adults look so funny! ~

In the first month, Charis smiles mostly when she is asleep. i always joked that she smiles dreaming of a pool of milk!

On 1Jan (when she was 5 weeks), we discovered that Charis actually smiled with her eyes opened in response to our conversation to her! We were so thrilled, and you can be sure our hearts melted!

On searching the web, i found that there are actually two types of smiles for babies: a. the spontaneous or almost reflexive smile that can occur early in the newborn period, and b. the social smile that occurs in response to something, like when you talk or sing to your baby

Really delighted that Charis has started her social smile! Hope to hear her laughter soon! According to baby books, that comes around 3-4 months! Exciting!

Breastfeeding in the Bible

As a new breastfeeding mom, i am eager to read up on anything and everything related to the subject. I was also curious to find out what the bible says about breastfeeding.

Actually, many parts of the bible talks about children nursing at the woman's breast. Perfectly in line with the understanding that breast milk is the best gift from God for our children!

For one, Moses was nursed by her mom. Remember Miriam suggested to the pharaoh's daughter to get a Hebrew woman to nurse the child? God has such a wonderful plan for Moses to be nursed by his biological mother, and to be taught the ways of Jehovah from young. That paved the way for His great salvation plan later on in the Exodus!

Another example is baby Samuel, as recorded in 1 Samuel 1:21-23.

When the man Elkanah went up with all his family to offer the annual sacrifice to the LORD and to fulfill his vow, Hannah did not go. She said to her husband, "After the boy is weaned, I will take him and present him before the LORD, and he will live there always."

"Do what seems best to you," Elkanah her husband told her. "Stay here until you have weaned him; only may the LORD make good his word." So the woman stayed at home and nursed her son until she had weaned him.

Mothers! Persevere in your noble task of breastfeeding! You may need to wake up in the wee hours of the night and suffer some panda circles, but seeing your child grow strong and healthy is definitely worth it! :)

New Year Meal

Pork ribs in bean paste sauce; most yummy dish of all

Stew chicken wings in black sauce; kinda my 拿手好菜

清炒豆苗; hubby's fav

Blessed New Year to all!! As the saying goes time flies and indeed, looking back i feel so much older this year because i now have a husband, a baby, and a few more wrinkles on my face!

To usher in the new year, i cooked dinner for our family (aka my husband and maid only; i can't bear to torture my mom and my brother yet!!) Didn't taste bad so i guess that should kinda set a nice precedence for the rest of the year!

My new year resolution: be a good wife, a better cook, and a great mother :)

五连拍

I love the last pic best .... i'm a sadist, i actually think Charis looks cute when she cries!! HAA ~~

First Flight (Almost)

Gee, here we are at T2!!

Snoozing away and enjoying the air-con!

Grandpa and Grandma was in town over the weekend to see their beloved Charis. We decided to bring her out when sending grandparents off.

Baby behaved real well and slept through it all ... hehe ... i was so worried and praying hard that she doesn't wail in the airport ... i could be made famous ^_^

Hopefully we'll get to bring baby back to Penang when she's a little older in the coming months. She has a real real LOUD voice so i hope she puts on her best behavior on flight!

First Month On Christmas

We practice by putting baby in the infant car seat at home
We're getting ready to bring her out after the first month!

YAY!! Charis turns one month on Christmas day! Frankly, it was quite a stressful month for a first time mother. But thanks for all the help of my mom, i'm managing better by the day :) Getting to know more and more about Charis' routine, and on hind sight, babies just need to be loved, fed and kept warm! That simple! Really!
